The first release from Selwyn Brown’s Rootical Muzik Productions on Warrior Records is a reworking of the Abyssinians classic “Satta Massagana” by reformed Jamaican Roots Reggae trio, The Fantells (released August 16, 2024).
The Fantells was originally formed in 1975 with Leon Brown, Ladely Brown, and Hal Anthony Lewinson. The group released many songs (You Can’t Hide, Ghetto Girl, Everywhere, The One I Love, Where You Gonna Run, Name Of The Game) with Hooligan being one of their biggest hits in 1977.
Current lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist Hal Anthony Lewinson, was born into a musical family in Frankfield, Jamaica, with cousin Jimmy Cliff and uncle Norris Weir (The Jamaicans). The first group that Hal was a part of, The Beltones, scored a hit with “No More Heartaches” in 1968. They disbanded in the early 70s and eventually The Beltones became The Fantells.
Over the years, Lewinson has toured Europe, Japan, South America, and the Caribbean in support of his own releases, but saw an opportunity to revive The Fantells. “With blessings from the other two original founders, I decided to reinvent the group,” said Hal. “With new members Glenroy Davey (aka Mr. Pinnacle), and Ted Greaves, Jr. (Roots Uprising), we’re creating in the studio and look forward to touring the world, so people can see, hear, and experience the sweet melody of The Fantells.”
There is a land far, far away
Where there's no night, there's only day
Look into the book of life and you will see
That there's a land far, far away
That there's a land far, far away
The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords
Sit upon his throne and He rules us all
Look into the book of life and you will see
That He rules us all
That He rules us all
The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords
Sit upon his throne and He rules us all
Look into the book of life and you will see
That He rules us all
That He rules us all
There is a land far, far away
Where there's no night, there's only day
Look into the book of life and you will see
That there's a land far, far away
That there's a land far, far away
