’Til the Pain is Gone’ is one of those songs that may not readily give itself away. It’s one of the most personal compositions that Arlen has ever written about being comforted by a lover in a time of loss. The tune was somewhat of a journal entry for him- a way to help him mourn while appreciating those who supported him through the difficult time. It took a few years before Andrew Dorsett and Dennis White helped him turn the song into what you hear today.
