Neighbours in an apartment building, getting to know one another.
Four Twenty Nine
Fourth floor number 29
Just unpacked, like it just fine
gotta little deck, for solitude
There I sit, I admit
Got a neighbour on the left
And the right
The guy above me plays music all night
Haven’t met the neighbor cross the hall
overwhelmed remember’n names ‘n all
Knock knockedy knock
A taping on my door
I look a wreck, and haven’t swept the floor
Through the peep hole, see a friendly face
bottle of wine, and dya have some time.
Make’n the time
Just don’t overstay
Cause neighbours are best
come’n and go’n this way
Knock knockedy knock
A taping on my door
I look a wreck, and haven’t swept the floor
Real crabby fella
‘Bout two floors down
Talks to no one
But seen him around
tapped on his door
He shuffled on the floor
Then chose
to ignore
Knock knockedy knock
Left a coffee at your door
smiles sometimes, cause he really enjoyed the s’more.
Fire in the building
Fortunately no one was hurt
We gather like a family
All going to church
Turns out the neighbors on the left
And the right
Have grit and compassion
They’re friends of mine,
next door
On the fourth floor
Knock knockedy knock
429,
Knock knockedy knock
neighbor of mine
Knock knockedy knock
She’s at home
Knock knockedy knock
…need alone time.
